It includes the abuse or abuse of professionally prescribed drugs, unlawful medications, and legitimate substances like alcohol and tobacco. Illicit drug use happens when an individual consumes drugs in unreasonable sums or take them in a way that is destructive to their health. Drugs can affect anyone’s development. Drug abuse has become a tragic threat to our society. 

Every person who takes drugs forgets the religion and the world, and he needs drugs all the time. Until he cannot even recognize his relatives. Drug addicts are always stigmatized in their society, they have no respect and dignity in their society, they lose their ability to think and understand. Likes to be isolated and neglects important relationships and responsibilities. Society looks down on a drug addict. Lying or being dishonest about drug use are all habits of an addict.

Islam completely prohibits the use of drugs and intoxicating substances because it is harmful to both the physical and spiritual health of individuals and society. The use of narcotic substances and alcohol consumption is clearly prohibited in the Holy Quran. The prohibition of alcohol consumption in Islam was announced in 4 Hijri. After that, narcotic substances were declared forbidden in Islam. People who addicted to drugs in the society are suffering from this social disease. Our Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that every intoxicant is forbidden. Why do Muslims consider alcohol consumption to be forbidden? Why do not they follow this blessed hadith? During the time of the Caliphs, the punishments for drinking alcohol were fixed. Why are these punishments not imposed today? Islam emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy mind and body and drug addiction is considered a serious sin in Islam.

Illicit drug use has turned into a significant social concern which keeps on spreading its limbs all around the country. The United Nations General Assembly decided to observe June 26 as the World Day Against Drug Abuse to express its commitment to strengthen action and participation to accomplish the objective of a worldwide society liberated from chronic drug use. Every year this day is supported by individuals, communities and various organizations around the world. In this day and age we are confronting parcel of issues both at public as well as worldwide level and among them illicit drug use is one of the consuming issue and various efforts are being made to root out this menace to secure the future of our younger generation.

In conclusion, drug abuse has become a big challenge for nation and society. Every responsible citizen of the society, especially teachers, has a big role to play in combating the problem of drug abuse because most of the victims of this drug abuse are youth. Therefore, along with teaching, it is their duty to impart moral education to the students and help them overcome their daily problems so that such students are not misled by the miscreants to use any kind of drug abuse. Although it is the duty of every citizen to fight against the drug mafia to get rid of this scourge which is taking a toll on the lives of people especially the youth, the police, excise department, civil society groups and educational institutions. The new age is the foundation of any nation's financial, instructive, monetary and social government assistance and advancement. A concerted effort can play a major role in saving our new generation from drug abuse. Let us vow to eradicate this scourge from our land.
